First Impressions Test Drive All New Toyota Avanza: This Is Not A Cheap Family Car
PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) launched their newest car, the All New Toyota Avanza on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
PT TAM has made many changes to their cars which are included in the low-cost family car (LMPV) segmentation.
But thanks to the changes given to the All New Toyota Avanza , the impression of a cheap family car has been completely removed, by Toyota Indonesia.
At least that's what Mind-People.com felt when trying this car in a test drive session on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
On that occasion, Mind-Rakyat.com had the opportunity to try out this car with prices starting from Rp. 200 million. What was our first impression?
Our first impression when we tried the car was the loss of the cheap impression on this latest Toyota Avanza when in the cabin.
The cabin of the All New Toyota Avanza only has two color combinations, namely black and gray accents on the dashboard and steering wheel.

The floating head unit with 8-inch touch screen with various functions is enough to spoil and entertain us during the test drive session.
Noise, Vibration, and Harness (NVH) on this car also feel more muted, creating a luxurious impression.
Furthermore, when the gas is started, the difference is felt from the use of the front-wheel drive platform used in the All New Toyota Avanza .
Since the first time the gas is stepped on, the engine performance immediately feels responsive and continues to fill up to its middle character. We think the use of this configuration is suitable for use on streets with stop and go characters in urban areas.
With a quiet cabin, the music from the car radio is quite entertaining and can be heard clearly. Only a few times the sound is loud enough to appear, if the car crosses a high enough mound.
The next interesting test we did was in the safety features section.
We did a test on the All New Toyota Avanza car with type 1.5 G which is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS).
As a result, all the safety features in this cheap family car function like a premium vehicle.
For example, the lane keeping assist (LKA) feature on this car can be seen in the MID section of the car which on the Toyota Avanza is in the middle.
You will see a white line if the car is in the middle of the road marking line. But the line will disappear if the car is moving unstable and crosses the line.
The next feature that works really well is blind spot monitoring.
Every time we turn on the turn signal, this feature will work if there is a vehicle behind us.
If the feature detects the appearance of a vehicle, an orange sign will appear on the rear view mirror. In addition, a warning sound will also appear that will alert the driver.
Other features are still not felt considering the short trajectory the editorial team took. But at least the features and all the advantages of this latest Toyota Avanza managed to eliminate the impression of a cheap family car in it.
Moreover, usually such accident mitigation features are only in cars that have prices in the upper middle class.
